Room upgrade pop up option on checkout screen

This feature showcases available higher category room types with images, persuasive messaging, and pricing differentials to help generate additional revenue while providing guests with superior accommodations.

Configure room upgrade popup at checkout

The enhanced upgrade modal replaces the standard dropdown list in your cart with a popup display for room upgrades. This feature showcases available higher category room types with images, persuasive messaging, and pricing differentials to help generate additional revenue while providing guests with superior accommodations.

After guests select their preferred room and rate and has moved to the cart, the modal window displays room type images and names for each available higher room category. Each room can have marketing messages added describing the benefits of each and the rate increases for each option. The pricing is the same as was available on the previous screen, this is simply to showcase the options now that the guest has made a selection.

Guests can select an upgraded room type or close the modal to continue checking out with their original selection. Even after closing the modal, guests retain access to upgrades through a view available upgrades button on the checkout screen. Certain room types may be excluded from this functionality.

Configure room upgrade popup display settings

Follow the steps below to configure room upgrade popup display settings.

  1. Go to Property Description menu.

  2. Select Branding.

  3. Select Modify and choose the desired branding from the dropdown menu in the upper right of the screen.

  4. Select the desired behavior from the Enhanced Upgrade Modal dropdown:

    • None - Feature disabled, default upsell dropdown appears on checkout screen.

    • Manual - Guests can enable popup by clicking the button on checkout screen.

    • Auto Pop up once per session - Popup appears only the first time guests reach the cart until they close it.

    • Auto Pop up - Popup appears every time guests reach the cart in the session until they close it.

  5. Click Save.

πŸ“ŒNote: For chain-level management, you can enable this setting at the hotel group level. When configured at chain level, room type configuration fields become available for properties in the chain.


Exclude specific room types from the upgrade popup display

Follow the steps below to exclude specific room types from the upgrade popup display.

  1. Go to Property Description.

  2. Go to Room Type.

  3. Click on the Room Type name to be brought to the Modify tab.

  4. Check the Exclude from Room Upgrades box for the room type that is not to be shown as an upgrade.

  5. Click Save.


Add marketing messaging for each room type to display when offered as an upgrade

Follow the steps below to add marketing messaging for each room type to display when offered as an upgrade

  1. Go to the Property Description menu.

  2. Go to Room Type.

  3. Click on the Room Type name to be brought to the Modify tab.

  4. In the room upgrade CTA text field, enter the description that illustrates the benefits of selecting the higher room category.

  5. Click Save.
