Property-level market segments
Market segments allow you to categorize and track different business sources within your property's revenue strategy. By creating custom segments that reflect your unique business mix, you gain insights into which market segments drive the most production and revenue.
Once created, you can assign these segments to rate codes for comprehensive tracking and commercial strategy analysis.
πNote: Market segments can also be created at chain level for multi-property groups and be used together.
Market segment types
Major market segments: Primary business categories that can operate independently or contain multiple sub-segments. These serve as the main organizational structure for your market reporting.
Minor market segments: Detailed sub-categories that exist under Major Market Segments, allowing granular tracking within broader business categories. These codes can integrate to your PMS, if supported, on associated reservations.
Create market segments
Follow the steps below to add a new market segment.
Navigate to Rate Management.
Select Market Segment.
Go to Create New tab.
Enter the segment name in the market segment box.
Choose segment type:
Keep the box checked for major market segment.
Uncheck the box for minor market segment.
For minor market segments: Use the major market segment dropdown to select the parent segment.
Click Save.
