Child age groups and pricing
Configure child age groups in the CRS to enable tailored availability and pricing for families. The system supports up to four child age groups or ranges, allowing you to set pricing and selling strategies based on specific child ages.
Both the CRS booking engine and the voice application plus the CRS APIs use these settings to provide accurate availability and pricing for family reservations.
The CRS offers flexibility in your selling strategies when catering to families traveling with children. Your configured age groups are visible in the CRS booking engine search and when specific ages are collected, the system translates these to your defined child age groups when returning available pricing and offers.
Below will outline how the child age groups work depending on the software type.
Booking engine:
The streamlined multi-property feature for the booking engine collects the exact ages of the children whereas the traditional cart functionality collects the age ranges.
Voice application:
When the number of children are entered for an availability query, the system opens up age fields for agents to enter during phone reservations.
Reservation details:
The system saves both the age group details and specific ages (if collected) in the reservation record during booking confirmation.
PMS integration:
If supported by your PMS, the CRS passes age information in the comments element of the PMS interface to help your property team prepare for family arrivals.
Configure child age groups
The following outlines how to configure child age groups.
Go to Property Description.
Go to Children Age Group.
Enter the upper limit for each of the child ages for your property for each child age group you want to use starting with child age group one:
Child age group one upper limit.
Child age group two upper limit.
Child age group three upper limit.
Child age group four upper limit.
Click Save.
📌Note: Only enter limits for the number of groups you want to take effect in the system. Age groups not configured won't be used for pricing or booking options.
Pricing for child age groups
Child age group room pricing is set as supplements to the applicable adult price point and applies across:
Derived pricing:
Standard rate calculations based on your configured child age supplemental pricing and may be adjusted as required for the rate's derivation from the master.
Season rate pricing and rate overwrite:
Set these fixed child supplements per date range and room type for each rate applied.
Add-ons:
Child age groups may also have their own pricing for add-ons.
