Add-ons explained
Add-ons enable you to sell additional services or amenities beyond the room portion of the reservation.
In addition to generating additional revenue, add-ons can be configured to display at different stages of the booking and post-confirmation journey and priced strategically to maximize available demand.
๐Note: For hotel chains or groups, add-ons can be created at the chain level to streamline the process for multiple properties simultaneously.
โ ๏ธImportant: Add-ons can be sold through the CRS booking engine, CRS voice application and distribution API.
Some channels working off extranets may also map add-ons sold on those channels.
Consult your specific channel playbooks for compatibility.
This helpful video will outline details on how to create an add-on:
Create an add-on
Below outlines how to create an add-on:
Go to the Group/Package/Add-ons menu.
Click Add-ons.
All existing add-ons will display.
Click Create New.
Enter the add-on name in the name field.
๐Note: HTML formatting cannot be used in the name field.
Enter the description to display in the booking path to guests or agents.
Choose the add-on category from those already created or create a new category and return to building your add-on.
Enter the add-on price as default or fixed value.
You can also set strategic pricing by date, day of week, or season using the pricing tab detailed below:
Select from three options for when this add-on will display and be available for sale, based on configuration elements.
This enables add-ons to be offered more strategically and as relevant to where the guest is in their planning:
Pre confirmation displays only in the booking path prior to checkout.
Post confirmation displays only to guests after the booking has been confirmed or offered as an upsell to an existing reservation.
Pre and post confirmation can be added before booking confirmation or when modifying an existing reservation.
Multi room reservations display add-ons per booking after clicking modify. This is to ensure the correct add-ons display for each booking in the itinerary.
Set child pricing if applicable.
Configure child age groups if enabled. This allows pricing to be set for different ages.
Create different add-ons for each child age group to be accommodated.
Choose one pricing option.
Per item.
Per guest.
Per room.
Per night.
Per guest per night.
Per room per night.
Per adult.
Per child.
Per adult per night.
Per child per night.
Select applicable tax and fees if different from the room tax rate. This is an optional step.
๐Note: If you don't have any tax options to choose from, there's only one tax created and it will apply. If add-ons should be taxed differently than room rates, additional taxes can be created and associated with the add-on.
Enter dates if the add-on should only be sold for specific stay dates. This is an optional step.
Enter begin date.
Enter end date.
Enter lead time to indicate the days in advance the add-on must be booked. This is an optional step.
Check Include in deposit if a deposit is required for the room booking.
๐Note: If reservation policy dictates a deposit needs to be taken, checking this box will include this add-on amount as well. Leaving it unchecked will not include this amount in any deposit calculation for the reservation.
Optionally, configure schedule by date and schedule the time by checking the boxes:
If selecting arrival date only or departure date only options, the system will automatically assign one add-on to the reservation and it cannot be scheduled.
Scheduling by date, with or without a specific time, is available for add-ons where shoppers select the quantity to add to their reservation.
For per-night pricing, selections are automatically applied each night of the stay based on the chosen criteria, and scheduling does not apply to this option.
When scheduling by date, there are two more options to restrict the guest from scheduling items on their arrival and or departure dates. If checked, these dates will not appear as selectable options to the guest.
Check Allow pay by points. This is an optional step.
For CRM integrated properties with loyalty redemption, check if guests are allowed to apply their earned credits towards booking this add-on.
If unchecked, the guest must pay with currency as normal.
Select currency.
If the property offers multiple currencies, select the appropriate one for this add-on.
Enter additional policy text.
Enter additional information to display to shoppers.
In the booking engine this will appear below the description.
Enter the email address(es) that you want internal or vendor notifications to go to for this add-on item when it's purchased.
Enter required rate codes and room types.
The add-on will only display when the guest selects these rooms or rates.
This does not affect the sort order, only if the add-on should appear.
Enter excluded rate codes and room types.
This entry will ensure the add-on will never display when the guest selects these rooms or rates.
This ensures the most relevant add-ons will be displayed to the guest during the booking journey.
Click to Save.
Configure multi-language content for add-ons
If your property requires the add-on to be translated into multiple languages, the below outlines how to do this:

Set strategic add-on pricing
This is an optional pricing option and should only be implemented instead of the default value. To set this pricing option follow the steps below:

Click Add-ons.
Click the Pricing tab to view and enter strategic pricing by date, day of the week, and or season for a specific add-on.
Click View to see any pricing previously entered.

To delete this entry, select Delete Price Range.
Click Update to save.
โ ๏ธImportant: The pricing on the pricing tab will automatically apply for any per night pricing formula as the dates are fixed.
For any pricing formula that is not per night and the guest is staying multiple nights, the arrival date value will apply, regardless of any variances on this tab during the stay.
This is because add-ons charged as items are not assigned to a specific date.
The default value entered on the modify tab will always apply when the add-on is available and there's no pricing for that date in the pricing tab.
