Multiple close-type restrictions processing

Process multiple close-type restrictions independently from your PMS to maintain precise availability control across distribution channels.

The CRS processes multiple close-type restrictions that your PMS sends independently, allowing you to maintain different restriction types simultaneously for the same date.

This functionality supports master close, close to arrival (CTA) and close to departure (CTD) restrictions operating together rather than overriding each other.

Multiple close-type restrictions

Below will outline how multiple close-type restrictions work.

The CRS supports close-type restrictions at master, arrival, or departure levels for the same day or within the same message from your PMS. Each restriction type operates independently, giving you greater control over availability management across your distribution channels.

Supported restriction types:

  • Master close prevents all bookings for specified dates.

  • Close to arrival (CTA) blocks new arrivals while allowing existing stays.

  • Close to departure (CTD) prevents departures while maintaining current bookings.

  • Distribution hierarchy: When communicating with distribution channels, the system follows this hierarchy: close > stay through > CTA or CTD.

    • If both CTA and CTD restrictions are active, the system sends stay through status to channels.

Managing independent restrictions

Since each restriction type operates separately, you must remove restrictions by sending the same type with an open status from your PMS:

  • Master close removal sends a hotel-level open message event.

  • CTA removal sends an open to arrival message.

  • CTD removal sends an open to departure message.

  • Key behavior: Posting a master close with an open to arrival or departure status no longer removes the master close.

    • Each restriction type requires its specific open message to be lifted.

⚠️Important: Restriction removal requires sending the corresponding open message type. An open to arrival message will not lift a master close or CTD restriction.
