Create a new discount code
The discounts section allows you to set rules to apply promotional offers to specific rates with qualifications based on length of stay, total spend, or a code.
This helpful video will outline the details regarding creating a new discount code.
Follow the steps below to create a new discount code:
Click Rate Management on the left navigation.
Click Discount.
Click Create New tab.
Enter the unique discount code which has a maximum of 16 characters.
Enter the discount name which has a maximum of 256 characters.
The discount name appears as a persuasive message in the booking engine and will overwrite the default description triggered by the derivation strikethrough if configured on the rate code.
Choose one of the three conditions to trigger the discount:
Option one: Number of nights.
Guests staying the a minimum number of nights receive the discount - Example: Stay three nights, get 10% off.
Option two: Amount of reservation.
Reward higher-value bookings. Example: Spend $500, get $50 off.
Option three: Discount code.
Guests receive a code to access exclusive offers not available to the public. Example: Enter code "WELCOME20" for 20% off.
⚠️Important: Setup allows only one condition to apply as a requirement, for the guest to meet multiple conditions could negatively affect the booking experience. If you want require a code and another condition, an access code with a restricted rate may be used.
Choose one discount action to apply when the guest meets the condition:
Get a percentage and or fixed amount off applied to the last night or last few nights.
Enter the % discount.
Enter the fixed amount to discount.
Enter the number of nights to apply, enter one to discount the last night or two to discount the last two nights.
Get a percentage and or fixed amount off applied to the total reservation amount.
Enter the % discount.
Enter the fixed amount to discount.
Get a percentage and or fixed amount off applied to the cheapest nightly rate of the stay.
Enter the % discount.
Enter the fixed amount to discount.
📌Note: It is intentional to apply discounts to the last nights to avoid the guest departing early without meeting the entire condition of the stay.
Optionally allow recurrent if the discount condition is based on the length of stay and discount is applied to the last night or nights:
Example rule is stay two nights get 10% off the last night, if guest stays four nights they get 10% off the second and fourth nights.
Check to enable: This is recurrent then set one of the options below:
Check to enable: Each time the condition is met, indefinitely.
Check to enable: Amount of times to limit the recurrence.
Enter the number of times the discount can be applied if the stay condition is met.
Set discount priority.
Only one can apply at a time based on the lowest priority.
Click Save.
Add language translations for discounts messaging
To translate discounts to another language, follow the steps below:
Click Rate Management on the left navigation.
Click Discount.
Go to the Multi-Language tab.
Select the Language from the drop down menu.
Enter the translated discount name.
Enter the translated discount description.
Click Save.
Assign discount to rate codes
Activate your discount by applying it to specific rates.
Set availability dates or leave dates blank if the discount is always available.
Follow the steps below to assign the discount to a rate:
Click Rate Management on the left navigation.
Click Discount.
Go to the Assign to Rate Code tab.
Click Assign New Rate button on the top right.
Select your discount from the drop-down menu.
Choose the rate category from the drop down to narrow down the rate code list.
Choose the rate code or multiple rate codes from the drop down list.
Enter the Begin Sell Date to being selling.
Enter the End Sell Date to end selling.
Begin Sell Time: enter the time to begin selling on the sell date, default is midnight.
End Sell Time: enter the time to end selling on the sell date, default is midnight.
Begin Date : enter the first date guests may stay.
End Date: enter the last date guests may stay.
Select arrival days by checking boxes for days of the week guests may arrive and receive the discount.
Click Create New to save.
