Blended rates explained
To understand what a blended rate is it is best to give an example to explain how it works.
A hotel has an offer of 50% off Sunday nights only. A guest requests a two night stay for Sunday and Monday nights. Without rate blending the guest would only be offered the normal rate for both nights. With rate blending the guest would be offered the 50% off rate on Sunday and the normal rate on Monday.
Create blended rates
To create a blended rate follow the steps below:
To use rate blending this is a feature that will need to be enabled.
Go to Client Manager and select the My Properties menu
Check the box blended rates
Click to Save
This opens the fields on the rate configuration screen.
Contact the support team if you require assistance [email protected]
Go to the Rate Management menu.
Select Rate Code.
Select your desired rate code in the Rate Code list.
This is also referred to as the master rate once rates are added to it for blending.
Select the Modify tab.
Locate the Blending Rate Codes field towards the bottom of the screen.
Enter the rate codes in the field separated by a semi-colon.
Click to Save.
If you enter an incorrect rate code, the system returns an invalid rate code message prompting you to try again.
Policy priority configuration
In addition to setting up rate blending on the rate codes, you must set a priority on policies to ensure the desired cancellation and guarantee terms are applied. The priority order determines which policies should be applied if they're relevant to any of the rate codes blended together.
Follow the steps below to configure the policy:
Go to the Property Description area.
Select the Policies menu.
Select Guarantee Policies.
Click on the policy to view or change.
Enter or verify the priority number in the field towards the bottom of the screen.
Click Save.
📌Note: The policy with the lowest priority order applies to the entire booking. If no priority is applied, property’s default policies are applied to the reservation.
Multiple night stay blended rate
With this setup, the blending will occur if any of the rate codes are available for the nights of stay, the master rate doesn't need to be available.
When rates are blended, the lowest blended rate price is offered on each date within the stay. If the rate sold is either the master or one of the other codes, so no blending of rates was used, the respective description will be used for that rate code. If there is any blending of any rates for the booking, the master rate description will be used for the guest-facing confirmation for the entire booking.
⚠️Important: Verify the different rate descriptions for the optimal guest booking experience.
Enforce master option for blended rate
The enforce master option ensures that blended rates are only offered if the master rate is available for at least one night of the stay.
However, the actual rates returned continue to be the lowest value rates to ensure guests receive the best offer. This means that although enforce master is selected, the master rate may not be included on the reservation.
To enable the enforce master rate blending option follow the steps below or if required contact the support team [email protected]:
Go to Client Manager and select the My Properties menu
Check the box Enforce Master Rate for Blended Rates
Click to Save
⚠️Important: If this setting, if enabled, then it applies to all blended rates.
Flexible rate blending
This feature was designed exclusively for properties with custom integrations to loyalty platforms, allowing rate application based on member qualifications. Without such configurations, functionality is limited.
Unless consulting with our professional services team, hotels should not use this rate blending option. If this is an option you would like to implement follow the steps below:
Go to Client Manager and select the My Properties menu
Check the box Enable Flexible Blending
Click to Save
This setting opens another tab called Rate Blending in the rate configuration screen.
You can select an unlimited number of rate codes as configured within the same rate code grouping functionality to blend:
Cheapest rate per night, similar to traditional functionality.
With custom integration apply this on the most expensive night.
With custom integration apply this on the cheapest night.
Restrict independent sale. When checked, this option will not allow the cheapest rate per night to be used for every night of the stay. If the cheapest rate is the only available rate code in the blend, the system will not return any availability for this rate configuration.
📌Note:
The CRS will not allow a blended master or parent rate to be a blended child for another rate code.
If policies by rate code vary, use the priority setting within the policy section to ensure the most restrictive policy is applied. Only one guarantee and cancellation policy is applied to a reservation.
PMS Integration: Some PMSs post the rate codes for each individual date while others apply the first night's rate code to the booking. Consult the playbook for your connected systems. The CRS always records the rate sold for each night on the reservation.
